St. Patrick’s Day Hat Variations
Materials used:
• Coloured Card
• Stickers
• Glue
• Scissors
• Pom Pom
• Buttons
Time plan:
10-10:30am
Room and/or equipment requirements:
• Art room and equipment needed card, glue, pencil, and stickers and buttons.
General Aim of activity – What will the final outcome be? ie. ‘To make an aeroplane with cardboard’ box.
• To make hats using card and using the different seasons or times of the year to create your own hat. Example the St. Patricks day hat.
Specific Learning outcomes of the activity – What will be learned by doing the activity? Ie. ‘To use fine motor skills using the scissors’
• The children will learn to create something from using just card and being able to decorate it.
Steps for making or doing activity:
Use images with short captions
Step1: Fold a piece of paper in a cylinder shape and stick using glue
Step 2: using that cylinder draw out circles for the top and bottom of your hat.
Step 3: Glue the circles you have cut out to the top and the bottom of you cylinder shape.
Step 4: when complete begin to decorate
Step 5: finish decorating using whatever you like
How will the child/ren benefit from the activity?
• The children will learn how to make hats
• They will also learn how to make them using card or paper
• It is a fun activity for the children to do
• The children can have fun putting it all together
• The children will also have fun in decorating it.
