Name of activity: Advent Calendar Christmas Tree.

Aim of activity:

1. Complete the advent calendar Christmas tree,
2. Ensure all aspects of the activity are safe
3. Ensure st.hildas have fun and enjoy the activity
4. Resolve problems that may arise throughout the activity.

Materials used:

Cardboard

Spray Paint

Lollipop sticks

Toilet roll holders

Red, green, yellow and brown paint

Hot glue gun

Coffee stirrers

Mixture of sweets

Glitter pens

Markers

Paint brushes

A5 sheets of red paper

 

Instructions:

Take one Christmas tree. Make sure there are 6 empty containers on the tree and 6 covers for these containers.

Plug in the hot glue gun

Pick out 6 sweets you like to put in the containers.

Place one sweet in each container.

When the glue gun is ready stick a cover to the top of each container. Do this for all 6 open containers.

All containers should now have a sweet in them and be covered.

When this is completed take one stirrer star.

Decorate the star using markers, pens and glitter whatever way you want. When this is finished pierce a hole in the top container of the tree. Place the star in this container and it will be the tree topper

Open one container every day until Christmas day. Enjoy!

Evaluation of activity from group: the activity turned out to be very successful. We met with the group from st.hildas and introduced ourselves. Then we got started on the activity. Clear instructions were given throughout. Everyone took turns in showing leadership skills. The group enjoyed themselves and were happy with the finished product. There were no injuries or safety issues and everything was done on time.

Costs:  Sweets 10x €1.49 = 14.90/7 = €2.12 per group member.
