Warm up Activity
Blind Painting: We intend to finish this activity within 10 minutes. In this activity we got the participants to sit at a desk which we had previously put down an a4 white page with masking tape. Then we proceeded to blindfold each participant. We each will pick one participant to lead in the activity i.e. by pointing out where their paint brush was and where the various colors were situated.

We also will use a stop watch in this activity and allow the participants 2 minutes to draw a “garden”. The time element makes this activity more challenging and fun for participants involved.

This activity gives one an insight into what it is been like loosing their sense of sight and this is a very effective activity to make one realize what they have and to be grateful for it, but it is also a fun warm up as it breaks the ice with people as they begin to laugh and joke about what their finishing piece looks like.
Lesson/activity objective
Aim - To allow participants to explore their creative side and exploring their imagination and painting without their sense of sight.

Objective – to create a fun, friendly environment in which participants can express themselves through paint. This exercise aims to discourage the painter from relying on their sight. This exercise is geared towards enhancing the artistic instinct within each participant
Equipment
Acrylic Paint, Brushes, paint tray, paper, masking tape, blind fold, stop watch.
Main Activity
Finger painting
The period of time given for this activity is 30-40 minutes.

In this activity we used acrylic paint, paint brushes and paint trays.

The aim in this activity is for the participants is to  paint one of our chosen scenes: - farm, garden, beach or space using the paint brushes to only paint the paint on to their hands.

Then the participants can only use their hands to paint on the sheet. We have introduced a trick in this game as we will be only giving out a limited selection of colors to the participants.

They must make new colors by rubbing their hands with another person’s hand.

This is a bonding activity and makes the participants rely more on their sense of touch. However it still is a fun activity.

Further Information to Enhance Outcome of Activity:

In the warm up activity each participant needs to be supervised in order to achieve a painting by the end, as if there was nobody supervising, each participant may think they have paint on their brushes when in fact they may not. Therefore we provide a guide due to their lack of sight. This demonstrates the importance of helping someone with lack of sight and also shows the participant how important their sense of sight is.

We need to space out each participant as there is a chance that due to them being blind folded they may in turn get paint on the person next to them by an accident.

Supervision in our main activity does not need to be as intense but we will still be observing them to make sure they are abiding the rules and understand the activity. It is important to remind them only to use their hands as the sense of touch is the main element in this activity. Mixing colours with other participants provides a different and interesting experience. The imagination is used greatly in this activity as the group have a blank canvas to create one of the optional scenes.

We do not anticipate or foresee any problems with our chosen activity.
