Totem Pole Heads

 

Aim:

To create masks on cardboard tubes in the style of a totem pole.

Objectives:  

To create an interactive game 

To create a mask using the totem pole idea

To explore different cultures; native American 

Materials:   

Heavy duty Cardboard tubes (from inside the a carpet roll for example) cut into suitable sizes  

Newspaper 

Masking tape

Pva glue 

Tissue paper

Paint 

 Instructions:

1. Twist the newspaper into long pieces
2. Attach to the card board tube to make a face - the face can be exaggerated - large nose, mouth etc. Secure with masking tape.
3. Either paint the face with acrylic paint or put PVA on the features and overlay with tissue to form a 'Skin'.
