Themed Group work - Earth, Air, Fire and Water


Aim of activity:
To create a jig -saw group work Art piece based on nature's elements; Fire, Water, Air and Earth






Thanks to all the students who have agreed to share their work


Activity
  1. In groups of 3-7
  2. Through group discussion choose one theme; Fire, earth, water or air
  3. Tape four or more large sheets together with sellotape and turn the page over with the sellotape at the back.
  4. Draw a large circle and cut out the circle.
  5. Divide the sheet into 'slices'. Cut each the pieces with various cut lines (these may reflect the theme; wavy for water, sharp for fire etc)  
  6. Each member take a 'piece' and decorate according to their chosen theme.
  7. Use DRY art materials; markers, pencils, crayons, collage; objects/magazines etc.
  8. When each person has completed the work put the pieces together and display on the wall.
Variations:
  • Change the theme; examples changing world, world poverty, bullying, or my town.  
  • Change the surface; card board, on to sand on a beach, on box with each person taking a side, or window surface
  • Change the idea; make a game with the jig saw, add peoples faces to each section.
  • Change the mark making instruments; paint, tissue paper, newspaper, wool, junk materials, or charcoal.
