Weaving with old fabric in an old box
All you need:
- An old box; fruit boxes are strong and tough
- Old clothes, cut into strips
- Sharp knife/scissors to cut out square in box
- Wool or twine
Great for reusing old fabric or clothes
- Cut out a square in the centre of the box
- Cut a number of holes at the top and the bottom and weave the twine or wool
- Weave the scraps of fabric between the twine or wool; under and over to create layer upon layer.
- Push the fabric tight together to create a tight weave
The Kids loved this and it helped them to see the potential of all materials for re-use.
What other ideas do you have?
Perhaps weaving large? Between the trees in a forest? what about between the children legs? Keep it fun and they will love learning!
