Paper Outfit Group Work Task
Paper is a cheap material and is available in many forms.
Because we see it all the time we forget its creative potential.
As art materials become expensive try and see paper as a valuable resource. Do more with less!
Using just paper, the group is asked to create an outfit.
Aim: To learn about paper using it in as many ways as possible;. Rip, fold, cut, stick etc to create an outfit. To see Paper as a resource
Challenge Functional fixedness with paper.
Junk Kouture HERE
The group decides on the theme and creates it on a team member in a short period. Or are given a theme: empathy, advocacy, and inclusion.
This is a fun activity that helps a group to work together and make decisions. As the 'outfit' is not a permanent piece there is a freedom to be creative and take risks. The fun is in the process that is not challenging from an artistic perspective.
Think about other materials that could be used and adapted; plastic sheeting, carpet, or balloons, fabric, tin foil. Simplify paper-cutouts (jumper, shirt etc) onto a paper (2D) body on a wall.
