General Aim of activity – What will the final outcome be? ie. ‘To make an aeroplane with cardboard’ box.
Make firework effects of a page using paint and toilet roll holders.
Specific Learning outcomes of the activity – What will be learned by doing the activity? Ie. ‘To use fine motor skills using the scissors’
- To learn how to use their fine motor skills because of using the scissors.
- To use their cognitive development as they will looking and developing on the colours they will be using.
- They will learn different textures during this activity through the paint, paper and toilet roll holders.
Steps for making or doing activity:
Use images with short captions
- Get a toilet roll holder and a scissors, begin to the bottom of the toilet roll holder, only go half way up and begin to pull out the pieces that are cut.
- Get a paint brush and dip it into the colour you want to use first, then paint the pieces of the toilet roll holder that you have cut.
- Then press the toilet roll holder down onto the page and run your finger along the cut pieces of the toilet roll holder until you feel it is stuck down onto the page.
- Then add many different colours as many as you would like and you will get a firework effect on the page.
How will the child/ren benefit from the activity?
- Children will be using their fine motor skills as they are using the scissors to cut the toilet roll holder.
- They will feel a sense of achievement because they start with nothing and they will have a finished product.
- They are learning different textures because of the paint, paper and the toilet roll holder.
