Warm up and introduction to group work
Aim: To offer the group an opportunity to get to know each other
Objectives: To visualise the group by mind mapping the group on a whiteboard. To share information about ones self with another person in the group.
In pairs, find out about each other. Find out why they are in the course and perhaps an interesting fact about themselves. One of the pair tells the larger group about the perosn they spoke to.
On the White board draw the map of the group. After the pairs speak about each other ask the student to write a word for themselves after their name on the board.

- Create a 3D map of the group by placing objects that represent the groups members on the floor or on chairs
- Instead of words to describe yourself - use pictures or small objects
- Use a ball of wool to map out similarities between members
- Draw an image of your self and tell your group about yourself
- Throw a ball and ask questions about the group members
